KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has begun a two-day residential training program for its newly elected federal lawmakers in Lalitpur, but the absence of party chair Rabi Lamichhane and senior leader Balen Shah has drawn attention.
The training started Tuesday morning at Hotel Royal Tulip in Gwarko, with participation from all 182 RSP lawmakers elected from across the country.
Speaking at the program, RSP vice-chair Dol Prasad Aryal said Lamichhane and Balen were unable to attend the orientation due to health issues and busy schedules. He added that efforts are being made to ensure their presence, noting that Lamichhane is expected to attend on Wednesday and at the closing session.
However, there is no confirmation yet on whether Balen will participate in the program, as he was also absent during the inauguration session.
Addressing the orientation, Aryal said that while the party had won the House of Representatives election, “the country and the people are yet to win.”

He stressed the need for the party to work in a way that makes every citizen feel that “the government exists for them,” adding that the upcoming government must prioritize good governance and the elimination of corruption.
Aryal also noted that the party’s electoral success was largely driven by public trust in Lamichhane and Balen, highlighting the expectations placed on their leadership.
He urged lawmakers to dedicate their commitment and capability to the nation and make the most of what he described as a historic opportunity to shape the country’s future.
