Durga Prasai remanded to four days in custody over election rumor case



KATHMANDU: Durga Prasai has been remanded to four days in custody for further investigation on charges of spreading rumors and disturbing public order.

The District Administration Office Kathmandu granted permission to detain Prasai for four days to investigate allegations that he spread misinformation related to the upcoming election.

Prasai was arrested Monday night from his residence in Bhaktapur and has since been held at the custody of the District Police Range Kathmandu.

He has been accused of publicly claiming that the election scheduled for March 5 would not take place under any circumstances.

Earlier, Prasai was detained from Chalnakhel while heading toward Birgunj. Prior to that, he was also arrested in Pokhara. Since the election date was announced, he has been arrested three times.
