UML central election committee member Khumakant Paudel quits party

KATHMANDU: Khumakant Paudel, a member of the CPN-UML Central Election Committee, has resigned from the party.

In his resignation letter addressed to district chair Yagya Gaire, Paudel stated that he could no longer align himself with what he described as growing authoritarianism, nepotism, hollow nationalism, corruption, a culture of abuse and humiliation, appeasement, and factionalism within the party.

Paudel previously served as the chief attorney of the provincial government under Chief Minister Leela Giri during the UML-led provincial administration. He has also been a member of the Law Commission.

Stating that he will now remain independent, Poudel is a resident of Tilottama Municipality–3 in Rupandehi constituency number 2.
