Former President Yadav underscores on protection of constitution

KATHMANDU: Former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has said that Nepal’s constitution is the best one and emphasised the need to protect it.

Addressing the ‘Govinda Biyogi Journalism Award’ distribution ceremony held in Suirechaur, Shivpuri Rural Municipality-7, Nuwakot, today, he stated that the present constitution became an excellent constitution with features such as inclusiveness, proportionality, and secularism.

The programme is organized by Editors Society Nepal on the occasion of the 20th memorial day of Govinda Biyogi, founding chairman of Editors Society Nepal.

He appreciated the role played by the late Biyogi in the restoration of democracy. Former President Yadav also suggested that the Society should work towards transforming Nepali society on the path of progress.

On a different note, he commented that it is unfortunate that the Nepali Congress, which has played a leading role in the country’s democratic movement, has reached its current state.
