RSP calls all-party meeting amid disaster mechanism delay

KATHMANDU: An all-party meeting of senior political leaders has been scheduled for today (Wednesday) at the initiative of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane.

According to RSP spokesperson Jagadish Kharel, the meeting will be held at 11 am at the RSP parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar.

The meeting will discuss the formation of a high-level political mechanism for disaster risk reduction and management.

On Tuesday, lawmakers from the CPN-UML and Nepali Communist Party questioned why the proposed all-party mechanism had not yet been formed.

Speaking during the House of Representatives meeting, UML Deputy Parliamentary Party Leader Padma Aryal and Nepali Communist Party lawmaker Prem Kumar Hamal raised concerns over the delay.

The meeting was called for Wednesday after opposition lawmakers also expressed concerns about the failure to establish the proposed mechanism.
