Arrest warrant issued against Nepali Congress lawmaker Abhishek Pratap Shah



KATHMANDU: An arrest warrant has been issued against Nepali Congress lawmaker Abhishek Pratap Shah on Thursday in connection with an alleged assault on Sitaram Sharma, President of the Krishnanagar Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Kapilvastu.

The warrant was issued after a case was registered against Shah over allegations that he was involved in an attack on Sharma.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ripendra Kumar Singh, spokesperson for the Kapilvastu District Police Office, the arrest warrant has been issued against Shah, who was elected from Kapilvastu Constituency No. 3.

A video showing Shah, along with Krishnanagar Municipality Mayor Rajat Pratap Shah and a group of around 15–20 people, allegedly entering Sharma’s residence and assaulting him had surfaced publicly.

Following the incident, Sharma filed a complaint with the police. Based on the complaint, police registered a case, leading to the issuance of the arrest warrant against the federal lawmaker.

Police said further investigation into the case will proceed according to legal procedures.
