Floods, landslides block eight roads across Nepal



KATHMANDU: Eight roads across the country have been completely blocked by floods and landslides following continuous rainfall, while traffic is operating on a one-way basis on six other roads, according to Nepal Police.

The Jhapa–Taplejung section of the Mechi Highway has been closed after a road at Rajduwali in Ilam Municipality-9, Ilam, was blocked by a landslide. Police said vehicles are being diverted through an alternative route.

The BP Highway has also been closed due to the risk of flooding, while the Kanti Lokpath has been blocked by landslides.

Likewise, the Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchowk, the Saljhandi–Dhorpatan Road in Arghakhanchi, and the Rudrabeni Road in Gulmi have been blocked due to floods and landslides.

Meanwhile, traffic is operating in one direction only on sections of the Mid-Hill Highway in Bhojpur, the Kanti Lokpath at Bhimphedi in Makawanpur, the Nayapul–Dhampus Road in Kaski, the Mid-Hill Highway in Baglung, and the Kaligandaki Corridor in Gulmi, police said.
