RSP backs Bodh Narayan Shrestha for Hearing Committee, proposes joint leadership in two panels

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to field Bodh Narayan Shrestha as its candidate for chair of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.

According to party General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti, the committee leadership is likely to be shared jointly with a representative from the main opposition.

The move comes as part of a broader arrangement under which the RSP has already agreed to hand over the Public Accounts Committee to the main opposition, the Nepali Congress.

Similarly, the party has selected Ganesh Karki as its candidate for chair of the Committee on Monitoring and Evaluation of the Implementation of Directive Principles, Policies, and Obligations of the State. This committee too is expected to have joint leadership between the RSP and the opposition.

Burlakoti said the party plans to adopt a joint leadership model in two parliamentary committees, although it has not yet clarified which opposition leaders will share the positions.

The decision reflects ongoing negotiations between the ruling party and the opposition over power-sharing in key parliamentary committees.
