GORKHA: Record-holding climber Purnima Shrestha, who entered the Guinness World Records after summiting Mount Everest three times within 13 days, has arrived at Everest Base Camp for her sixth ascent.
Shrestha said she is currently at the base camp and plans to move toward Camp I in the coming days as part of her preparations.
She previously summited Everest on May 12, May 19, and May 25, 2024, achieving the rare feat of three ascents in less than two weeks, which earned her a place in the Guinness World Records.
In 2024, she was also featured in CNN’s list of top athletes for her record-setting achievement.
Beyond Everest, Shrestha has climbed several of the world’s highest peaks—including K2, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu—completing a total of 14 ascents of mountains above 8,000 meters and setting multiple records.
Originally from Arutar in Arughat Rural Municipality–9 of Gorkha, Shrestha continues to pursue new milestones in high-altitude mountaineering.
