Showers expected in select hilly regions today



KATHMANDU: A western low-pressure system is currently affecting parts of Nepal, bringing cloudy conditions to hilly and mountainous areas, while the rest of the country remains partly cloudy, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The Department forecast moderate rain or snowfall with possible thunder and lightning in some Himalayan areas of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, as well as a few places in the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini Provinces.

Hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim may also experience moderate rain with thunder, lightning, and hail, while one or two hilly areas in other provinces could see light rain with thunder. Light rain with thunder and lightning is possible at isolated locations in the Terai region.

Tonight, cloudy skies are expected in the hilly and Himalayan areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim and in the Himalayan regions of other provinces, with the remaining hilly and Terai areas partly cloudy.

Some Himalayan areas in Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim could see light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning, while one or two hilly areas may experience light rain with thunder and lightning.
