Oli calls for end to undemocratic attempts to overthrow democracy

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has called for an investigation into attempts to change governments through undemocratic, antisocial and criminal means.

Speaking at a programme to launch the website of the Policy Study and Research Academy at the party’s central office in Chyasal on Thursday, Oli said such activities, including the establishment of “puppet governments”, must be investigated.

He said the practice of undermining democracy through undemocratic means must come to an end.

Oli also stressed that those in government must remain accountable to the people. He said the UML-led government had paid special attention to the welfare and management of people with disabilities, the vulnerable, the helpless and senior citizens.

To achieve the goal of a “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali”, Oli said people’s hardships must first be addressed.

He emphasised the need to create sources of income, increase production and generate employment opportunities that enable families to meet their basic needs.
