Grass cutting begins at neglected Dasharath Stadium after prolonged inactivity

KATHMANDU: Grass cutting and cleaning work has begun at Dasharath Stadium, Nepal’s only international-standard sports venue, after the ground remained without major sporting activities for a long period.

With the onset of the monsoon season, thick grass had grown across the field. The stadium had appeared neglected due to the lack of regular maintenance, cleaning, and sports events for an extended period.

The cleaning initiative began after several media reports highlighted the deteriorating condition of the stadium, including the overgrown field and lack of proper maintenance.

Currently, workers are cutting grass and carrying out cleaning activities at the venue. Authorities have also started necessary maintenance and management works to make the ground suitable for hosting sporting events again.

Dasharath Stadium is Nepal’s main international sports venue, hosting national and international football matches as well as other sporting events. However, the lack of regular activities in recent times had raised concerns over its preservation and management.
