Seven ANNFSU leaders, including chair Deepak Dhami, detained near Singha Durbar



KATHMANDU: Police on Wednesday detained seven leaders of the All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU), the student wing affiliated with the CPN-UML, for allegedly attempting to stage a protest in the restricted area outside Singha Durbar.

The group was taken into custody from the main entrance of Singha Durbar after reportedly trying to demonstrate in the prohibited zone.

Those detained include ANNFSU Central Chair Deepak Dhami, Election Commission Chair Jit Prasad Sitoula, Secretariat member Bishal Khadka, Bagmati Province Special Valley Coordinator Ravi Magar, Central Committee member Bishnu Uparkoti, National Law Committee Secretary Sudip Thapa, and CTEVT Committee member Siris Budhathoki.

According to police, the group was detained after attempting to breach the restricted area and chant slogans. Authorities said the action was taken to maintain security and public order.
