Couple dies in midnight motorcycle accident in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT: A young couple lost their lives in a motorcycle accident in Rautahat on Sunday night.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bishnu Pradeep Basyal of the District Police Office, Rautahat, the accident occurred along the Gaur-Gangapipara road section in Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality-4. The motorcycle (registration number BR 30 U 1371, India) reportedly veered off the road late at night.

The deceased have been identified as 24-year-old motorcyclist Jitendra Sah of Yamunamai Rural Municipality-4, Saruatha, and his 21-year-old wife.

“We received information about the accident at around 5:30 am on Sunday,” DSP Basyal said. “Police rescued both victims from the scene and rushed them to the Provincial Hospital in Gaur, where doctors declared them dead.”

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident may have been caused by overspeeding. Police said the motorcycle fell approximately 50 meters off the road and crashed into a sisau tree.

According to police findings, the couple had left a relative’s house in Durga Bhagwati-3 at around 11:30 pm after attending a feast. Further investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
