RSP women lawmakers’ statement on Khagendra Sunar deemed ‘fake’

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Samikshya Baskota has claimed that a statement issued in the name of the party’s women lawmakers demanding action against fellow lawmaker Khagendra Sunar is fake.

Baskota clarified that the women lawmakers had not issued any separate statement and urged the public not to be misled by it.

Her clarification came after reports circulated that RSP women lawmakers had issued a statement demanding action against Sunar.

“After the party itself issued a statement and initiated the investigation process, we did not issue a separate statement. We are looking into who created this document,” Baskota told Khabarhub.

She said the statement circulated in the name of the women lawmakers was misleading and that the party was holding discussions and conducting its own investigation into the matter.

“We have not issued any statement of any kind. All of this is misleading. The party is holding discussions and conducting an investigation in its own way. If he is found guilty, action will certainly be taken. The party will not spare anyone found guilty,” she said.

RSP lawmaker Nisha Dangi also confirmed that the statement circulated in the name of the women lawmakers was fake.

“That language is not ours. It is fake. We do not know where or how it was created,” Dangi said.
