Fake Bhutanese refugee case: Rayamajhi gets four-year jail term



KATHMANDU: Former minister and CPN-UML leader Top Bahadur Rayamajhi has been sentenced to four years in prison and fined Rs 40,000 after being convicted in the fake Bhutanese refugee case.

The Kathmandu District Court delivered the sentence on Tuesday, with a bench led by Judge Tej Bahadur Khadka issuing the verdict.

The court sentenced Rayamajhi to two years in prison and a fine of Rs 20,000 for fraud, three years in prison and a fine of Rs 30,000 for organized crime, one year and six months in prison and a fine of Rs 15,000 for offenses against the state, along with an additional six-month prison term for a related offense.

After integrating the sentences in accordance with the law, the court imposed a final sentence of four years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 40,000.
