KATHMANDU: The Cabinet has decided to immediately implement the recommendations of past government commissions formed to address issues related to exploitative lending, commonly known as loan sharking.
Briefing the media after Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting at Singha Durbar, government spokesperson and Minister for Education Sasmit Pokharel said the Ministry of Home Affairs has been directed to implement the reports in accordance with previous government decisions.
The Cabinet also decided to provide incentive allowances to Armed Police Force personnel deployed in disaster search and rescue operations.
In another decision, the Cabinet appointed Maheshwar Bhakta Shrestha, chairperson of the Nepal Airlines Corporation Board, as Executive Chairperson with additional responsibility as the corporation’s General Manager.
The meeting also approved the Seeds Regulation (First Amendment), 2026, and decided to provide cash awards and certificates of recognition to athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, physiotherapists, and managers who win medals in international competitions.
Pokharel also said anyone found responsible for the suspicious parking of vehicles outside various media organizations would face legal action in accordance with the law.
