Four parliamentary committees to hold meetings today



KATHMANDU: Four committees under the House of Representatives are scheduled to hold meetings today. The Education, Health and Information Technology Committee, Finance Committee, Public Accounts Committee, and International Relations and Tourism Committee will hold discussions on various issues.

The meeting of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee will be held at 8:30 am at Singha Durbar. The meeting will discuss the National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2081.

The Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, secretary of the ministry, secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, executive director of the National Forensic Science Laboratory, and subject expert Dr. Gopal Kumar Chaudhary have been invited to the meeting.

Similarly, the Finance Committee will also meet at 8:30 am at Singha Durbar. The meeting will seek information from the Nepal Insurance Authority regarding its major activities carried out during the fiscal year 2082/83, policy and operational challenges in insurance sector regulation, efforts made for policyholder protection and risk reduction in insurance businesses, and the three-year performance status of insurance institutions or companies owned by the Government of Nepal.

The committee will also discuss initiatives taken by the Nepal Insurance Authority to improve the performance of government-owned insurance institutions and companies.

Likewise, the Public Accounts Committee will hold its meeting at 9:30 am at Singha Durbar. The meeting will discuss issues related to electronic passport printing.

The International Relations and Tourism Committee will also meet at 9:30 am. The committee will hold a theoretical discussion on the Intangible Cultural Heritage (Protection) Bill, 2081.

The Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, secretary of the ministry, and secretary or representative from the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs have been invited to attend the meeting.
