Finance Minister Wagle: RSP is not a communist party

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has clarified that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is not a communist party, while responding to questions raised during the policy and programme debate in Parliament.

Addressing lawmakers, Wagle urged not to cast doubts on the party’s economic and geopolitical stance, stating that RSP is committed to a pluralistic democratic system with a focus on social justice and an inclusive economy.

“We are not communists. We are not neo-liberals either. The position is clear,” Wagle said. “The Rastriya Swatantra Party is a democratic political party committed to equal progress for all Nepalis and believes in a welfare-oriented economy with social justice.”

He added that the party’s ideology was well-defined and asked lawmakers to review its policy principles.

“We are clear on this. Honourable members should take time to read our party’s principles,” he said. “The constitution mentions strengthening the democratic republican system, and we are moving forward within that framework.”
