TANAHUN: Various organizations and businessmen have donated modern health equipment worth around Rs 4 million to Bandipur Hospital located in Bandipur Rural Municipality–4 of Tanahun.
Lions Club of Chitwan Chautari and Loyal Traders provided the hospital with modern machines required for its laboratory on Wednesday.
According to Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Anil Giri, the Lions Club of Chitwan Chautari has donated two machines worth around Rs 2 million. These include a CLIA machine and a PT/INR machine.
Dr. Giri said that the CLIA machine can be used to test various hormonal and related conditions, including thyroid disorders, vitamin D and vitamin B12 levels, cervical cancer (CA-125), and prostate cancer (PSA).
Similarly, the PT/INR machine is useful for testing blood clotting and for monitoring heart patients, as well as patients bitten by snakes or scorpions.
Likewise, Loyal Traders of Bharatpur, Chitwan, has provided equipment worth about Rs 2 million. The hospital stated that this includes a fully automated biochemistry testing machine and a hematology analyzer.
The biochemistry machine is used to test liver and kidney function, uric acid, amylase, lipase, and other parameters.
Similarly, the hematology analyzer identifies diseases by conducting detailed tests of blood components and cell counts, Superintendent Dr. Giri informed.
Lions Club of Chitwan Chautari President Deepak Basnet said that residents of the Bandipur area will no longer need to travel to Pokhara, Chitwan, or Kathmandu for routine or specialized medical tests. According to him, with the installation of modern equipment, most testing services will now be available in Bandipur itself.
Similarly, Rural Municipality Chairman Surendra Bahadur Thapa said that the equipment support would help provide accessible and quality healthcare services to local residents. He added that people from Bandipur, Tanahun, Bhanu, Byas, and Aanbukhaireni municipalities, as well as from Gorkha and Lamjung, will also be able to access the services.
More than 24,000 people have received health services at Bandipur Hospital in the past year. The hospital stated that its expanded outpatient department (OPD) service, operating daily from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., has made treatment more accessible for patients.
The hospital, which is currently operating with a capacity of 15 beds, provides services including eye care, maternity, dental, laboratory, and pharmacy services. Superintendent Dr. Giri said the hospital remains committed to delivering quality healthcare by expanding and diversifying its services following the completion of its new building, which is under construction.
