Police Inspector Abhaya Lama passes away after being hit by truck while on duty



KATHMANDU: Police Inspector Abhaya Lama, who was critically injured after being struck by a truck on Sunday, passed away on Tuesday morning.

Lama breathed his last during treatment at the B&B Hospital in Lalitpur.

Lama, who was stationed at the Valley Traffic Police Office, was returning home after completing his duty on Sunday when the accident occurred at Dandagaun, Tarakeshwar Municipality-8. His motorcycle (Ba. Pra. 02-029 Pa 9415) was hit by a truck (Ba. Pra. 03-001 Kha 1715), leaving him with severe injuries.

Following the incident, police arrested the truck driver, 38-year-old Aitaram Moktan of Makwanpur.

Inspector Lama’s career was marked by rapid professional growth. He first joined the police force as a Constable in 2015. Through hard work and dedication, he later passed the exams for Assistant Inspector before successfully entering the rank of Police Inspector through open competition.

A resident of Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-4 in Ramechhap, Lama was known among his colleagues as a diligent and hardworking officer. The Valley Traffic Police Office has expressed deep sorrow over his untimely demise and offered heartfelt condolences to his family.
