Nepali Congress launches ‘Root Campaign’ to update active membership

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has initiated a nationwide campaign to update and renew its active membership. Party President Gagan Thapa officially inaugurated the campaign by updating his own membership in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-30.

The program, titled Root Campaign, aims to reorganize, systematize, and strengthen the party’s organizational structure from the ground up. According to President Thapa, the campaign will run until the end of the month of Baisakh.

Under this initiative, active members across the country are urged to renew and update their memberships in a timely manner. Notably, the party has introduced a mandatory provision requiring members to be physically present in their respective wards to complete the update process.

Party leadership explained that this requirement aims to end the previous practice of proxy renewals, which was believed to have led to a lack of engagement and accountability among the rank and file. By mandating personal attendance, the party hopes to foster a sense of individual responsibility and revitalize its connection with its base.
