KATHMANDU: The Special Court has extended the judicial remand of CPN-UML Vice Chair Bishnu Paudel for a fifth time, allowing investigators three more days to continue their probe into an alleged money laundering case.
A joint bench of judges Narayan Prasad Paudel and Umesh Koirala granted the extension on Monday.
Paudel is under investigation by the Department of Money Laundering Investigation on charges under the Asset (Money) Laundering Prevention Act.
He was arrested in Surkhet on June 22 based on a request from the department. Since then, investigators have obtained four previous remand extensions from the Special Court while keeping him in judicial custody for further investigation.
