Butwal e-rickshaw operators protest, demand crackdown on unregistered vehicles

BUTWAL: E-rickshaw operators in Butwal staged a protest on Monday, demanding that only vehicles registered with the Butwal Sub-metropolitan City be allowed to operate.

The protesters said 1,440 e-rickshaws are officially registered in Butwal but claimed a large number of unregistered vehicles continue to operate unchecked. They also accused the local authority of failing to collect taxes even from registered operators.

The operators organized a rally from Yogikuti to the Butwal Sub-metropolitan City office at Haat Bazaar before staging a sit-in outside the municipal office.

The protesters urged the local government to strictly enforce registration requirements and take action against unregistered e-rickshaws operating in the city.
