KATHMANDU: Four committees under the Federal Parliament are scheduled to hold separate meetings on Monday to discuss issues ranging from national development planning and federalism to child rights and forensic science legislation.
The Finance Committee will meet at 8:30 am at Singha Durbar to review the National Planning Commission’s major activities in the fiscal year 2025/26. The committee will also receive updates on the implementation of the 16th Periodic Plan, the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, and the progress of national priority and other development projects.
The Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee under the National Assembly will convene at 11:30 am at Singha Durbar. The meeting is scheduled to discuss the draft report of the committee’s field monitoring visit to Madhesh Province.
The Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee will meet at 1:00 pm to deliberate on the 2026 report prepared by its subcommittee on the inspection and monitoring of the human rights situation of children residing in juvenile correction homes.
Also at 1:00 pm, the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee will hold discussions on the National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2024.
The committee has invited the Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, the ministry’s secretary, the secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Executive Director of the National Forensic Science Laboratory, Dr. Gopal Kumar Chaudhary, and other subject experts to participate in the discussion.
