Rain likely in Kathmandu Valley today as well



KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said that there is a possibility of rain in the Kathmandu Valley today as well. According to the Department, the Valley may witness moderate to heavy rainfall today.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in the Kathmandu Valley today as well, the Department said, adding that the weather in the Valley will remain generally cloudy throughout the day, although there may be occasional sunshine.

The Department is scheduled to issue its nationwide weather bulletin, including rainfall forecasts, at 8 am today.

According to the Department, rainfall is classified based on the amount recorded within a 24-hour period. Rainfall of less than 10 millimeters is considered light rain. Rainfall measuring more than 10 millimeters but less than 50 millimeters is classified as moderate rain, while rainfall exceeding 50 millimeters but below 100 millimeters is considered heavy rain.

Similarly, rainfall measuring more than 100 millimeters but less than 200 millimeters within 24 hours is categorized as very heavy rainfall. If rainfall exceeds 200 millimeters in a 24-hour period, it is considered extremely heavy rainfall.
