KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah held discussions with members of the House of Representatives elected from Bagmati Province on development priorities and key policy issues.
The meeting, held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, focused on programmes that could be implemented within the current fiscal year 2082/83, as well as long-term infrastructure development, agriculture, tourism, health, education, governance and social sector issues.
During the discussion, lawmakers presented concerns, opportunities and priority plans from their respective constituencies, along with various demands and suggestions related to local development.
Lawmaker Ashika Tamang from Dhading-1 urged the government to implement a modern waste management system in Sisdol landfill site and Bancharedanda landfill site. She also called for effective monitoring of the “green sticker” system to control vehicle pollution and the introduction of a special education package for Chepang and Tamang communities. Tamang further stressed prioritising the construction of the Sitapaila–Dharke alternative road.
Similarly, Sindhupalchok lawmaker Yubaraj Dulal called for legislation to control monkey-related problems, protection of vulnerable settlements along the Melamchi River and Indrawati River, and resolution of pending payments related to the Melamchi Drinking Water Project.
From Kavrepalanchok, lawmaker Badan Kumar Bhandari urged the government to move forward with the Sunkoshi-3 Reservoir Project, develop Dhulikhel as the capital of Bagmati Province, expand the Araniko Highway into four lanes, and establish a regional specialised hospital in Panchkhal.
Likewise, Chitwan-1 lawmaker Hari Dhakal proposed developing a safari route with a cycling lane along the Rapti River, constructing a high dam to expand irrigation facilities, and introducing an online ticketing system in Sauraha.
Kathmandu-4 lawmaker Pukar Bam called for the implementation of the master plan for Pashupatinath Temple, the creation of a National Budget Dashboard to improve transparency, and the introduction of an Integrated Infrastructure Development Act. He also emphasised the need to move forward with the construction of a flyover at Chabahil.
Meanwhile, Ramechhap lawmaker Krishna Hari Budhathoki stressed the need to address outmigration from the district by creating employment opportunities. He also urged the government to prioritise the Those Shivala Reservoir Project and ensure the timely completion of stalled road projects.
Responding to the concerns raised, Prime Minister Shah said the government would gradually implement the proposals based on budget availability and priority. The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen coordination among federal, provincial and local governments to accelerate overall development in Bagmati Province.
