Rabi Lamichhane unwell; Balen visits him at home

KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, Chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has fallen ill reportedly due to exhaustion following the recent elections.

Lamichhane is currently resting at home, according to his chief personal secretary Abinash Acharya.

He has been suffering from fever for the past few days. During a medical check-up, doctors found a urinary infection. Although he is taking regular medication, the fever has not subsided, and doctors have advised him to take rest for another day or two.

Meanwhile, Balendra (Balen) Shah visited Lamichhane at his residence yesterday. The meeting marked their first in-person interaction since the election results were announced. According to Acharya, the two leaders held a one-on-one discussion.

The Rastriya Swatantra Party is required to finalize the list of candidates to be sent to parliament under the proportional representation system by Tuesday. Sources said Lamichhane and Shah also held a general discussion on this matter as well as on preparations for forming a new government.
