BHAKTAPUR: Bagmati Province Chief Minister Kiran Thapa Magar has said that counselors have been deployed to provide psychosocial support to flood victims in the Bhote Koshi area of Rasuwa.
Speaking at a programme organized by the Nepal Press Society, Suryabinayak, Bhaktapur, on Saturday, Chief Minister Thapa Magar said 16 counselors are currently working in the disaster-affected areas.
He said children who lost their parents in the devastating floods in Rasuwa would be provided education up to Grade 12 and residential schooling according to their needs. More than 7,000 people have been affected by the floods and landslides, he said.
Chief Minister Thapa Magar said the provincial government began coordinating with local and federal governments immediately after the floods struck Rasuwa on August 26, prioritizing rescue and relief operations.
According to him, the disaster has affected local levels in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Chitwan districts of Bagmati Province, resulting in significant loss of life and property.
He said the provincial government has provided Rs 25,000 per deceased person to support the management and funeral of those who lost their lives in the floods.
He added that machinery has been mobilized through the Infrastructure Development Offices under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure to construct alternative routes and restore road connectivity in Nuwakot and Rasuwa, where roads have been blocked by the disaster.
The provincial government has also decided to provide immediate relief funds to the disaster-affected districts through the Provincial Disaster Management Fund, he said.
