Flood in Kimrung Khola raises risk for riverside settlements in Kaski

KATHMANDU: Flooding in Kimrung Khola has increased the risk to riverside settlements in Annapurna Rural Municipality-11 of Kaski district after a landslide blocked the river upstream.

According to Rural Municipality Chairperson Bishnu Bahadur KC, the landslide occurred at Kimrung, damming the river and triggering flooding in downstream areas.

He said several physical structures in Syauli Bazaar of Ward No. 8 sustained damage, although no human casualties have been reported.

“We have advised residents living in riverside areas to move to safer locations,” KC said.

The flooding has caused concern among local residents.

Kaski Assistant Chief District Officer Chitrangat Baral said authorities are collecting details of the incident and have urged people in vulnerable areas to remain alert.
