KATHMANDU: Eighty-nine squatters from 31 families have been relocated from the Radhaswamy Holding Center in Kirtipur to the Kharipati Holding Center in Bhaktapur after the facility was flooded due to continuous rainfall.
The displaced families were transferred to Kharipati on Saturday and Sunday morning, with 89 individuals from 31 families being moved during the two days. Some of the displaced squatters have also been relocated to Bode in Bhaktapur.
The government had earlier removed squatter settlements from the banks of the Bagmati River, including the Thapathali area. However, a long-term management plan for the displaced families has yet to be completed.
