India congratulates RSP on electoral success in Nepal



NEW DELHI: The government of India has welcomed the successful completion of the 2026 Nepal federal parliament election in Nepal.

During a regular media briefing on Thursday, Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs India, said the Indian government welcomes the successful conduct of the election in Nepal.

According to Jaiswal, Narendra Modi held telephone conversations with Rabi Lamichhane, chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, and senior leader Balen Shah, congratulating them on their success in the election.

The Indian government also extended its best wishes for the notable electoral success of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, the ministry said.

During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi expressed India’s commitment to work closely with the people of Nepal and the incoming government.

He also conveyed India’s desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation to achieve shared goals of peace, progress and prosperity, according to the ministry.

The ministry noted that relations between India and Nepal are unique and multidimensional, expressing confidence that the partnership will grow stronger in the coming years.
