National Assembly session prorogued from midnight Friday



KATHMANDU: The ongoing session of the National Assembly has been prorogued.

President Ramchandra Paudel, on the recommendation of the government, ended the session effective from 12:00 midnight on Friday, February 13.

According to a statement issued by Ritesh Kumar Shakya, spokesperson for the Office of the President, the session was prorogued in accordance with Article 93 (2) of the Constitution, following the recommendation of the Council of Ministers dated February 9.

The government had decided to recommend the end of the session citing the approaching House of Representatives elections and the lack of any significant pending business in the National Assembly.

During the session, the Tourism Bill and the Film Bill were passed, while the Social Media Bill was withdrawn.
