KATHMANDU: The Nepali Army (NA) has rescued 36 people stranded at various locations in Gorkha district following flooding in the Budhigandaki River.
According to the Nepali Army, the rescue operations brought six people to safety from Jagat, nine from Nyakphedi, nine from Yaru—including an infant and a foreign national—and 12 from Payu.
The rescue efforts come amid widespread damage caused by the flooding in the Budhigandaki region, where houses, bridges and infrastructure have been damaged or swept away by the swollen river.
The Nepali Army has been mobilized alongside other security agencies to carry out search and rescue operations in the affected areas. The latest rescues highlight the urgency of reaching people stranded in vulnerable settlements as authorities continue their response to the disaster.
