Bajhang jeep accident: three dead, seven injured



MAHENDRANAGAR: Three passengers died on the spot when a jeep en route to Chuhawan of Durgathali rural municipality from Kadachaur of Kedarsyau rural municipality-7 in Bajhang met with an accident on Saturday.

According to preliminary information from the police, the jeep ( Su Pa Pra 01-001 Cha 2644)  met with the accident at around 4:00 pm, leaving three people dead and seven others seriously injured.

The Sudur Pashim Province Police Office, Dhangadhi, said that adverse weather had earlier hampered  efforts to airlift the injured by a Nepali Army helicopter.

According to the District Administration Office (DAO), Bajhang’s information officer Satya Kumari Joshi, the local administration and the security agencies are actively engaged in rescue operations.

The NA helicopter returned to Chainpur after failing to land at the accident site due to adverse weather conditions.

By the time of filing this report,  three to four ambulances had been sent to the site from Chainpur. Preliminary reports indicate that around 14-15 people were travelling in the jeep, said Sudurpashim Province Police Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanuram Bhattarai. (RSS)
