Protest held outside Bir Hospital demanding justice for Ganesh Nepali

KATHMANDU: Family members, friends and supporters of Ganesh Nepali staged a protest outside Bir Hospital on Saturday, demanding justice following his death during treatment after a self-immolation attempt.

The protesters called on the government to conduct an impartial investigation into the incident and take legal action against those found responsible.

The demonstration was attended by former Dalit Constituent Assembly members from Mugu, film director Min Bahadur Bham and people from various walks of life.

During the protest, participants attempted to move onto the roadway, prompting Nepal Police to intervene. A brief scuffle ensued between protesters and police before security personnel brought the situation under control. The demonstration later continued peacefully.

Ganesh Nepali had attempted self-immolation outside the Department of Passports in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu, earlier this week. Following his death during treatment, his family and supporters have been demanding a fair investigation and justice.
