PMO says PM Balen Shah briefly left Parliament due to health discomfort

KATHMANDU: The secretariat of Prime Minister Balen Shah has clarified that the prime minister briefly left the joint session of Parliament on Monday due to health discomfort during the presentation of the government’s annual policy and programme.

President Ram Chandra Poudel presented the government’s policy and programme during a joint meeting of the federal Parliament earlier in the day.

Prime Minister Shah’s absence while welcoming the president and his departure from the hall during the speech drew criticism from opposition parties.

In a statement, the Prime Minister’s Secretariat said Shah experienced health-related discomfort during the programme and stepped out briefly to rest.

“Due to health discomfort, the Right Honourable Prime Minister took a short rest during the presentation of the policy and programme,” the statement said. “He later rejoined the programme. His health condition is normal.”
