Govt pledges zero tolerance against corruption, vows constitutional amendment through consensus

KATHMANDU: The government has said it will move forward with constitutional amendments through dialogue and cooperation among political parties to ensure equal ownership and participation of all classes, regions and communities.

While unveiling the government’s policies and programmes on Monday, President Ram Chandra Paudel said a discussion paper on constitutional amendment would be prepared by incorporating common concerns and suggestions from all sides.

He stated that the formation of a government led by a single political party with a clear majority in the House of Representatives presents a historic opportunity for political stability, policy clarity and transformative reforms in the country.

The government has also pledged to promote good governance as the foundation of a prosperous Nepal, emphasizing a policy of zero tolerance against corruption, improved public service delivery, economic recovery and social progress.

President Paudel further said that all economic transactions would gradually be linked to digital platforms in an effort to establish a cashless, transparent and revenue leakage-free economy.
