Special General Convention: 255 delegates registered from Gandaki, only 102 from Sudurpaschim

KATHMANDU: The second special general convention of the Nepali Congress is currently underway at Bhrikutimandap in the capital. While party leaders are delivering speeches at the convention venue, delegates are simultaneously registering their names.

The convention organizing side has claimed that 54 percent of the party’s general convention delegates have signed in support of convening the special general convention. According to the Nepali Congress statute, the party is required to call a special general convention if at least 40 percent of delegates submit their signatures.

So far, 255 general convention delegates from Gandaki Province have registered their names. Similarly, 250 delegates from Lumbini Province have also completed their registration.

However, delegate participation from Sudurpaschim Province, the home province of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, has remained relatively low. Only 102 delegates from Sudurpaschim have registered so far.

Likewise, 111 delegates from Karnali Province have registered their names.
