KATHMANDU: Rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected in several parts of Nepal today as a western low-pressure system and monsoon winds continue to influence the country’s weather, with some areas at risk of moderate to heavy precipitation.
According to the weather forecast, the hilly and Himalayan regions, along with parts of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, are currently experiencing generally cloudy conditions, while the rest of the country is partly cloudy. Thunderstorms and lightning have been reported in some places in Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as in one or two locations in Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
This afternoon, generally cloudy conditions are expected across Koshi Province and the Himalayan and hilly regions of the country, while the Terai region is likely to experience partly cloudy weather.
There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some areas of the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
Similar weather conditions are possible at one or two locations in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. One or two places in the Terai region of Koshi Province may also receive moderate to heavy rainfall.
Tonight, the Himalayan and hilly regions are expected to remain partly cloudy, while the Terai region will generally experience clear weather. Light rain or snowfall is possible at one or two locations in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
Meanwhile, fog may develop in some areas of the Terai during the early morning hours.
