KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Dipak Kumar Sah has assumed office.
Sah, who took the oath of office from President Ram Chandra Paudel on Thursday, reached the ministry in Singha Durbar and formally assumed his responsibilities.
Sah was appointed minister following the resignation of Gauri Kumari Yadav.
Sah, who had served as a vice president of CK Raut’s Janamat Party, joined the Rastriya Swatantra Party ahead of the March 5 election. He has been involved in various issues related to climate change and is regarded as an influential technical figure within the party.
He is considered close to Prime Minister Balendra Shah and party leader Amresh Kumar Singh. It has been claimed that Sah joined the Rastriya Swatantra Party with Shah’s initiative.
Sah defeated Nepali Congress leader Gyanendra Bahadur Karki in the March 5 election.
