KATHMANDU: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) have reached the final of the third edition of the ACC Premier Cup, securing a place in the title decider for the third consecutive time after defeating Hong Kong by three wickets in Thursday’s semi-final.
Chasing a modest target of 71 runs set by Hong Kong, the UAE reached 72 for three in 11.1 overs. Tanish Suri top-scored with 27 runs, while Abid Usmani made 16 and Akshdeep Nath contributed 11.
For Hong Kong, captain Yasmin Mortaza, Ishaan Khan and Kinchit Shah took one wicket each. Earlier, Hong Kong, who were sent in to bat after losing the toss at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval in Bangi, Malaysia, were bowled out for 70 runs in 30.1 overs.
Zeeshan Ali was Hong Kong’s top scorer with 17 runs off 28 balls, including one six and one four. The rest of the batting lineup struggled to make an impact.
Haider Ali was the standout bowler for the UAE, taking six wickets for just 14 runs in his 10 overs. The UAE will face the winner of the other semi-final in the final.
Nepal and Oman are contesting the second semi-final today. Nepal set Oman a target of 148 runs in the match.
