Former home minister Aryal urges government to cooperate with citizens

KATHMANDU: Former Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has urged the government to strengthen cooperation with citizens, saying the country is witnessing growing confrontation between the state and the public.

Referring to the death of Ganesh Nepali, who succumbed to burn injuries after setting himself on fire outside the Department of Passports, Aryal said those in government must understand how the rule of law should function and work in partnership with citizens.

“Even today, the trend is not one of cooperation with citizens but of increasing confrontation,” Aryal wrote in a social media post.

He also warned the government against repeating past mistakes that could push the country into “another vicious cycle of conflict and instability.”
