KATHMANDU: Bir Hospital has said the condition of 25-year-old Ganesh Nepali of Soru Rural Municipality-1, Mugu, remains critical following severe burn injuries, with doctors warning that his health could deteriorate at any time.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, hospital officials said Nepali’s condition remains unstable. Doctors said injuries to his face and respiratory system have made treatment particularly challenging, although all possible efforts are being made to save his life.
According to the hospital, Nepali is being treated on a ventilator in the Burn Intensive Care Unit. About 55 percent of his body has sustained burn injuries.
A 21-member medical team is overseeing his treatment under the leadership of Dr. Piyush Dahal, coordinator of the hospital’s Plastic Surgery Department. The team also includes unit chief Dr. Apar Lamichhane, critical care specialist Dr. Nirman Gyawali, anesthetist Jay Prakash Thakur, Prof. Dr. Rabiram Shrestha, and nursing staff.
The hospital said preparations had been made to transfer Nepali to New Delhi, India, for further treatment, but the transfer has not been possible as his condition has not yet stabilized.
Nepali was admitted to Bir Hospital on Thursday after sustaining severe burn injuries in an incident outside the Department of Passports in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
