KATHMANDU: The 19th Municipal Assembly of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City concluded on Thursday with its sixth meeting, bringing to an end the session that began on June 14.
During the meeting, members discussed amendment bills and annual reports tabled in the fourth and fifth sittings of the assembly. Humadevi Acharya, a member of the Legislative Committee, presented proposed amendments to existing laws.
Assembly members Bimal Kumar Hoda, Santosh Dhungel, Macharaja Maharjan, Suresh Manandhar and Rojina Shrestha also expressed their views on the proposed legislation.
Acting Mayor and Assembly Chair Sunita Dangol presented the bills, incorporating suggestions made during the discussions and written amendment proposals, for endorsement. Annual reports of the Judicial Committee, Accounts Committee and Good Governance Committee, tabled during the fifth meeting, were also approved after incorporating recommendations from assembly members.
All proposals were unanimously endorsed, following which Dangol declared the 19th Municipal Assembly concluded. She urged all concerned to ensure the effective implementation of the approved programs to safeguard the interests, welfare and security of city residents and those who depend on the capital.
Earlier, during the second meeting of the assembly on June 15, members unanimously approved a policy document containing 101 proposals across 11 priority sectors for the fiscal year 2026/27.
At the third meeting held on June 18, Dangol presented a budget of Rs 25.88 billion for the upcoming fiscal year, along with the Financial Bill and the Appropriation Bill for FY 2026/27.
