Finance Minister Wagle alleges smear campaign amid budget debate

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle has accused certain groups of orchestrating a campaign of misinformation aimed at discrediting him.

Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives’ Finance Committee on Wednesday, convened to discuss the national budget, Waglé claimed that rumors and false narratives had been deliberately spread against him.

“The House of Representatives, which should be discussing the budget, has been obstructed, and an organized effort has been made to spread misinformation against me,” Wagle said.

He said his appearance before the parliamentary committee was also intended to address the allegations and misconceptions directed at him.

“I have come to the committee to clarify the confusion and respond to the allegations made against me,” he added.

The Finance Committee meeting is currently underway, with Minister Wagle presenting his views on the budget and responding to questions raised regarding both the budget and the accusations against him.
