Thunderstorms and heavy rain likely today



KATHMANDU: Rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in several hilly and mountainous areas of the country today, while temperatures are expected to remain high in some parts of the Terai, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather will remain generally cloudy in the mountainous and hilly regions of the country, including Koshi Province, this afternoon, while the Terai region is expected to remain partly cloudy.

There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as in a few places in the mountainous and hilly regions of Madhesh, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. One or two places in the Terai region of Sudurpaschim Province may also receive rainfall.

The Division has stated that hot-day conditions are likely to occur in a few places across the Terai region of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy across the country. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning in some places in the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as in the mountainous regions of all provinces, including Karnali Province.

A few places in the hilly areas of Sudurpaschim Province and one or two places in the Terai region may also experience rainfall.
