Split in Ujyaalo Nepal Party after Kulman becomes Chair; Dr Joshi and 20 central members remain with RSP

KATHMANDU: A split has emerged within the Ujyaalo Nepal Party after Kulman assumed the party chair, with Vice-Chair and Sudurpaschim Provincial Assembly member Dr Tara Joshi choosing to remain in the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) along with 20 central committee members.

The division followed the collapse of party unification between the RSP and the Ujyaalo Nepal Party on Saturday. After the unification broke down, the faction led by Dr Joshi decided to stay with the RSP. Dr Joshi had been the dialogue coordinator of the Ujyaalo Nepal Party and was regarded as its second-ranking leader.

Following the split, Kulman took over leadership of the Ujyaalo Nepal Party as its chair. As he assumed the role, several central committee members opted not to follow him and instead continued with the RSP.

The Ujyaalo Nepal Party has already submitted a 51-member central committee list to the Election Commission. Of them, 20 central members are reported to have remained aligned with the unification decision by staying in the RSP.
