KATHMANDU: Senior Nepali Congress leader and former minister Homanath Dahal has passed away.
Dahal, 84, who had been unwell for some time, died on Friday evening while undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital in Kathmandu.
According to senior journalist Purushottam Dahal, the late leader’s mortal remains will be kept at his private residence in Maitidevi until 9 am on Saturday for people to pay their last respects. His last rites will be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat at 9:30 am.
He is survived by his wife and two sons. His wife, Sudha Dahal, is currently receiving treatment at Bir Hospital, according to family sources.
A tireless fighter in Nepal’s democratic movement and a committed follower of BP Koirala’s political ideology, Dahal was also a former president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists.
Dahal had remained active in politics and public life for decades, contributing significantly to Nepal’s democratic struggle, party politics, and the institutional development of journalism in the country.
