Gagan Thapa clarifies no official endorsement of candidates

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Gagan Thapa has urged delegates not to consider candidate lists being circulated under his name for the party’s 15th General Convention as his official endorsement or recommendation.

Thapa made the appeal in a Facebook post on Friday morning, clarifying that he had not endorsed any particular panel or faction in the party’s internal democratic process.

Drawing attention to the circulation of lists featuring various candidates under his name, he urged delegates not to interpret them as his official choices.

“I urge you not to understand any list of candidates promoted under my name as my official endorsement or recommendation,” he said.

Thapa also appealed to general convention delegates not to be swayed by rumours and to cast their votes according to their own judgment, assessment and convictions.

He urged delegates to participate in the election process with dignity, restraint and enthusiasm, keeping the party’s broader interests at the forefront.

Expressing confidence in the delegates’ wisdom, Thapa said their considered decisions would help take the party organisation to new heights. He also apologised to the delegates for the inconvenience caused by delays in the election process.
